    Description

This auction is for two original Japanese Woodblock prints by the artist Eiichi Kotozuka as well as the original portfolio folder. They are titled 1. The Full Moon Viewed on The Seta Karahashi Bridge and 2. The Katata Ukimido Temple in The Lake Biwa (This print has a wonderful embossed texture to it). Each prints paper measures 11 by 8 inches - size of paper matte is 13.75 by 10 inches - these print were made in the late 1940s or early 1950s. They are from the portfolio The Scenes of Shiga, Nara and Kyoto which was comprised of 6 prints - so 4 are missing. The auction images were taken in late day sunlight ane on stark white foamcore so images look a bit warmer - the pics represent the prints fairly well. The folding case has some light age and foxing to front paper titles and a bit to boards - please refer to images. The prints look very clean (the print of the bridge has two very small dots of dark which I have photographed) and are in the original paper mattes - mattes have edge wear and paper scuff at top center of matte silver paper- none of this affects the prints. The prints are attached along very top edge to matte back paper - so they can be lifted up but at the very top it is attached along extreme top edge. On the inside of the portfolio it has a printed identifier for the prints - it states "Uchida Woodblock Printer Takakura Takeyamachi Street Kyoto Japan" - If you have any questions or issues please let me know.
