Ohara Koson (1877-1945) is a flower and bird painting artist who was active from the end of the Meiji era to the Taisho and Showa eras.
A feature of Ohara Koson's work is that woodblock prints represent familiar nature such as lovely birds, animals, and flowers. At first glance, it doesn't look like the same woodblock print as Ukiyo-e in the Edo period. However, based on the traditional technique of Ukiyo-e woodblock prints, it achieves a pale and beautiful color tone, just like a watercolor painting, according to the tastes of the Meiji and Showa eras. It can be said that the works are loved by everyone, not to mention animal lovers.
